In assuming the role of Executive Director at ECELAW, Lesley is taking a leave of absence from her position as Co-Principal at Griffiths Muecke, an environmental consulting company she helped found in 1980. Her consulting work has covered a wide range of issues including community planning and development, offshore oil and gas, watershed management, waste reduction and recycling, and trail and other recreational facility development. Environmental assessment has always been a major focus. Lesley has chaired three federal-provincial joint review panels, for the Voisey's Bay Mine and Mill project, the remediation of the Sydney Tar Ponds, and most recently the Lower Churchill Hydroelectric project. She also served as process lead for the Fundy Tidal Energy Strategic Environmental Assessment and hopes to see much more extensive use made of SEA in future as a way to draw on the collective wisdom of all stakeholders.
Lesley has served in executive positions on the boards of Ecology Action Centre, Clean Nova Scotia and the Halifax Rowing Club. |
