Description

AN ENVIRONMENTAL BILL OF RIGHTS FOR NOVA SCOTIA?

Eighteen years ago, Ontario's NDP government passed the Environmental Bill of Rights.  The EBR granted a number of legal avenues by which residents of Ontario could assert their right to a healthful environment.  Since its enactment, the EBR has been used by citizens to gain knowledge about their local environments and has provided them with the legal tools to challenge environmental destruction.  More importantly the EBR prioritized the right of citizens to a clean environment.

East Coast Environmental Law is currently researching and preparing a draft Nova Scotia Environmental Bill of Rights. Join us to strategize on how we might proceed towards its adoption. We will provide general information about our research and an outline of the proposed Bill.

WHEN: Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at 12 noon to 1:30 p.m.

WHERE: Room 406, Weldon Law Building, 6061 University Avenue, Halifax
