Our Vision for the Region.

A future in which laws and legal systems protect ecological health and promote environmental and climate justice in Atlantic Canada.

Our Mission

Our mission is to advocate for progressive environmental laws and policies for Atlantic Canada, provide public legal education, and share our legal skills to support others who are are working to prevent or redress environmental harms.

Our work addresses many different issues that are shaped by environmental laws and policies in Atlantic Canada. In one way or another, all of the work we do touches on one or more of the triple planetary crises that our world is facing today: biodiversity loss, climate change, and pollution.

Biodiversity

How do we halt and reverse biodiversity loss and protect individual species at risk? Does nature have legal rights protecting it from destruction?

Climate Change

How can laws help us to mitigate and adapt to climate change? How do we fight for climate justice in Atlantic Canada?

Pollution

Do Atlantic Canadians have rights to clean and healthy environments? How do we fight for environmental justice in our communities?

Our Strategic Plan

We are currently executing a 3-year Strategic Plan that covers January 1, 2022 through to December 31, 2024. View the plan here.
