The 15-Mile Processing Hub Project proposed by 15-Mile Minerals and Renewables, a division of St Barbara Ltd., reimagines three proposed mine projects that were previously subject to joint federal and provincial environmental assessments under the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act, 2012 and Nova Scotia’s Environment Act and Environmental Assessment Regulations.

New Brunswick has an important opportunity to modernize its mineral resource legislation in a manner that supports responsible resource development while strengthening environmental protection, transparency, accountability, and public confidence.
The recommendations outlined in this letter would provide the Province with stronger tools to prevent environmental harm, improve compliance and enforcement, support meaningful public participation, and reduce the long-term risks and liabilities associated with mining activities.
